Further scaling back its struggling flagship online service, Microsoft Corp. said Thursday it plans to stop producing its own entertainment programming for the Microsoft Network and cut 40 jobs. The move comes as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, above, focuses on trying to draw more World Wide Web surfers to the company’s popular Web sites and services.
