From Staff And Wire Reports

Hina Matsuri, a celebration of dolls as ambassadors of friendship, takes place Tuesday at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute. The free event starts at 10:15 a.m.

Students from Mukogawa and other local schools will perform songs and skits. Representatives from Indiana, Missouri, Montana and Washington state are expected to attend.

The dolls are part of a 1,000-year-old tradition called Hina Matsuri or Girl’s Day. They’ll be on display through March at Mukogawa’s Japanese Cultural Center.
