Fast Start Leads Chiefs To Victory Over Ams
The Spokane Chiefs exploded for five first-period goals, three by Greg Leeb, and cruised to a 5-3 win over the Tri-City Americans in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.
Marc Brown’s eighth goal of the season staked Spokane to a 1-0 lead just 3:21 into the game.
Leeb followed with a pair of goals, the first on an assist from Curtis Suter at 4:35 and the second on an assist from Dan Vandermeer at 6:45.
Jared Smyth stretched the lead to 4-0 at the 11:45 mark.
Leeb picked up his hat trick at 14:31 when he scored a power-play goal off assists by Perry Johnson and Kyle Rossiter.
Spokane is 6-1 against Tri-City this season and sports a 14-6 road record. The Ams have lost 12 straight.
Spokane plays host to Prince George Friday night and Seattle Saturday night. Both games are at 7 o’clock.
