Man Arrested In Assault On Two Firefighters

A 20-year-old Spokane man was down and apparently didn’t want to get up.

Nick E. Crammer was arrested by police for punching two Spokane firefighters in the face after they tried helping him.

The firefighters responded to an emergency call of a fallen man at 1014 E. Dalton at 9 p.m. Christmas Eve , police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

Firefighters found Crammer lying in the snow when they arrived. When they tried to help him, he jumped up and hit the male and female firefighters in the face. They subdued Crammer and called police, Cottam said.

Crammer, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds, also fought officers when they arrested him, Cottam said. Crammer, who gave his address as 7009 N. Howard, was booked into jail on two assault charges.

Say cheese…

Two young men stole two cameras from the Sears department store in NorthTown mall on Dec. 23.

Sears security watched and videotaped the two in the electronics department store at 10:45 p.m. They saw the two cut anti-theft cables on the cameras, place the merchandise inside their shirts and head for an exit door, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

When a security guard approached them, one of the men sprayed him in the face with pepper spray and the two escaped to the parking lot, he said.

The guard was treated at an area hospital but suffered no permanent injury. Police retrieved the security office videotape.

The thieves were both white males in their late teens. One had short, bleached hair and a goatee and was wearing a Raiders jacket. The other had short hair and sunglasses.
