Michigan Wins With Late Rally

Washington State Cougars fans with interest in a certain football game today have to hope that Michigan’s 76-63 victory over host Wisconsin on New Year’s Eve did not set a trend for the holiday.
Louis Bullock made two clutch 3-pointers as No. 18 Michigan scored the game’s final 12 points and opened the Big Ten season with a win.
Bullock, who led the Wolverines (11-3, 1-0) with 22 points, had scored just two in the second half before hitting back-to-back 3s to spark Michigan’s closing run.
Maceo Baston scored 16 points, Jerod Ward 13 and Robert Traylor added 12 points and 11 rebounds as Michigan won its fifth straight game.
Sam Okey scored 14 points to lead the Badgers (7-6, 0-1). Sean Daugherty added 13, Mike Kelley 12 and Sean Mason 11.
(14) Iowa 89, Indiana 76
In Bloomington, Ind., Ricky Davis scored 22 points and Ryan Bowen scored 15 of his 19 in the second half to lead the Hawkeyes (12-1, 1-0 Big Ten) over the Hoosiers (9-4, 0-1) in the Big Ten opener for both schools.
Bowen scored seven points during a 15-2 run that gave the Hawkeyes an 81-67 lead with 3:48 left.
Indiana took a 63-62 lead with 9:20 left on a 3-pointer from Luke Recker, who led the Hoosiers with 19 points.
(15) Florida State 66, DePaul 55
In Rosemont, Ill., the Seminoles (11-2) showed former coach Pat Kennedy what he left behind, getting 16 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots from Corey Louis to defeat Kennedy’s Blue Demons (3-8).
Kennedy, who went 202-131 in 11 years at Florida State, recruited Louis and every other player on the talented Seminoles before taking the DePaul job last June.
Georgetown 74, (22) W.Virginia 65
In Washington, Kenny Brunner had 15 points and eight assists, and Jameel Watkins grabbed 16 rebounds as the Hoyas (7-3, 1-2 Big East) beat the Mountaineers (11-2, 1-2).
Georgetown’s Trez Kilpatrick broke a 25-25 tie late in the first half when he made two straight 3-pointers. The Hoyas scored the final 11 points of the first half and the first four of the second for a 39-25 lead.
Damian Owens and Greg Jones each scored 18 points for West Virginia, which had its six-game winning streak snapped.

In Fayetteville, Ark., coach Nolan Richardson captured his 300th win as the Razorbacks (10-2) cruised past the Hornets (4-6).
Arkansas dominated with six players scoring in double figures. Pat Bradley led the way with a game-high 21 points, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range.

In Milwaukee, Aaron Hutchins had 20 points and the Golden Eagles (9-0) scored 12 straight points during a decisive second-half run in a win over the Peacocks (4-6).
Jarrod Lovette added 14 points and Brian Wardle 10 for Marquette.
Utah St. 80, Radford 73
In Logan, Utah, Marcus Saxon scored 23 points to lead the Aggies (9-3) over the Highlanders (3-6) in the second round of the Gossner Foods Classic.
Utah State came back from a 65-60 deficit in the last 6 minutes to remain undefeated in the four-year history of the tournament.
Georgia Tech 93, North Texas 76
In Atlanta, Michael Maddox scored a career-high 24 points and Matt Harpring had his eighth doubledouble of the season as the Yellow Jackets (9-3) defeated the Mean Green (1-9).
