Northport Loses Title Game In Overtime

One free throw here or there would have given Northport’s girls varsity first place at the Chewelah Junior Varsity basketball tournament.

The Mustangs (6-3) certainly had their chances Wednesday. They missed 11 of 14 free-throw attempts, allowing J.L. Crowe of Trail, British Columbia, to overcame a six-point, third-quarter deficit for a 54-52 overtime win.

Northport’s Candace Young scored 25.
