Erin Dowhy scored 17 points Saturday to lead the high-flying North Idaho College Cardinals past Big Bend Community College 67-60 in the final game of the Big Bend Community College crossover basketball tournament at Moses Lake.
Dowhy hit six of her field-goal attempts and all but one of her six free-throw tries as NIC improved its record to 9-2. Teammate Tammy Goyne scored eight points, grabbed six rebounds, passed out seven assists and collected a pair of steals.
Big Bend’s Vikings led the closely played game 30-29 at halftime. However, NIC edged away in the final minutes, counteracting Big Bend’s zone defense by feeding the ball in to Dowhy.
