Meola To Return For World Cup
Goalkeeper Tony Meola has returned to the U.S. National Team, ending his 3-year absence from the country’s top men’s soccer squad.
Meola, 28, rejoins the U.S. as the team begins training for the World Cup, which will be played in France June 10 through July 12.
Meola, who played for Major League Soccer’s New York/New Jersey MetroStars the past two seasons, replaces goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who signed with Liverpool of the English Premier League.
