Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I have a question about bedsheets. What is the difference between percale and muslin sheets? What causes some to “pill” more than others? Sharon Huizenga, Glenburn, N.D.
Percale sheets have a higher thread count than muslin sheets do. And the higher the thread count (at least 180), the softer the sheets are and the less likely they are to pill. Because of the lower thread count, pilling is more common on muslin sheets.
If you’re tired of sheets that pill, invest a little more money in a good set that will last. Think of it this way: If a good set of sheets lasts you five to 10 years or more, how much are you spending a year? Not much! - Heloise xxxx
