Man Denies Threatening Clinton

Associated Press

A former Secret Service informant jailed on charges that he threatened to assassinate President Clinton says he is innocent.

Zsolt Sass, 34, has been in jail since September after his girlfriend told police he had threatened numerous times to kill Clinton.

At Sass’ arrest, police found eight knives and seven guns in his car, including a handgun with laser sighting.

“I love this country and I never threatened to kill the president,” Sass said. “I didn’t do it.”

Jury selection in his trial on federal weapons charges and threatening to kill the president is set to begin today in Tampa, Fla.

Sass, who ran a Sarasota bar, claims he was a government informant who used his business to help the Secret Service gather information on criminal activity.
