Melissa Conrad Awarded 4-Year College Scholarship

Melissa Conrad, a student at Gonzaga Prep, has received a $20,000 Scholarship for Leaders for four years of study at Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.

The scholarship is given to young women students across the nation to pursue whatever field of study they wish.

Conrad was recognized for her contributions as a leader at G-Prep and in the community.

Gonzaga Prep awarded 15 students with full or partial tuition scholarships based in part, on academic achievement.

The students, their parents and scholarships are:

Jon Jurich, son of Joseph and Kathy Jurich, Chris West Memorial Scholarship; Ericka Ross, daughter of Frank and Kathleen Ross, Chris West Memorial; Lisa Thorne, daughter of Donald and Sharyn Thorne, Garco Company Scholarship; Marc Cote, son of Steve and Cecelia Cote, Mildred and Robert Fees Memorial Scholarship.

Amy Harrell, daughter of Mike and Sue Harrell, Charlotte Martin Memorial Scholarship; Amanda Spethman, daughter of Mary Hanify, William Bischoff, S.J. Memorial Scholarship; Vanessa Waldref, daughter of George and Rita Waldref, James Herlihy Memorial Scholarship; Rebecca Gaffney-Brown, daughter of Joe and Mary Gaffney-Brown, JohnstonHanson Foundation Scholarship.

David Egly, son of John and Jenny Egly, Johnston-Hanson Foundation; Brian Frankovic, son of Pat and Patty Frankovic, Ray “Doc” Mauro Memorial Scholarship; Courtney Hutton, daughter of Kevin and Cheryl Hutton, Fr. Goebel, S.J. Alumni Scholarship; Jane Provinsal, daughter of Ron and Jan Provinsal, Father Goebel, S.J., Alumni.

Andrea Conrath, daughter of Jared and Gina Conrath, James Rudolf Memorial Scholarship; Stephanie Stone, daughter of Mike and Luann Stone, Rekofke Family Scholarship; Ryna Nauditt, daughter of Laurene Nauditt, Rekofke Family.

Inland Northwest students have recently graduated from colleges around the nation.

Western Washington University, Bellingham: Kelly Luther Clarkston; Adam Edinger Colfax; Mykel Montgomery, Othello; Karen Ermi, Scott Nelson and Dawni Pietz, all of Spokane.

Portland State University: Kristen West, Kettle Falls; Michael Campbell, Spokane, with a master’s degree in public administration.

Middlebury (Va.) College: Lisa Reisig, Spokane, a master’s degree in Italian.

University of San Diego: Alex Hopwood, a master’s degree in business administration and finance. He is the son of Janice Hopwood, Spokane, and Dr. Don Hopwood, Phoenix.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge: Radha Nandagopal, Spokane.

Lewis & Clark College, Portland: Lori Skillestad, Spokane, a master of arts in teaching.

Washington State University, nursing program: Rebecca Long, summa cum laude, Ephrata; from Spokane (all cum laude graduates): Lisa Claflin, Brenna Dawson, Kathleen Houston, Scott Lamberson and Leslie Ruch.

Several Inland Northwest students received academic scholarships to attend Whitworth College.

$5,000 Trustee Scholars:
