Distinguished Service Award Given To UI’s Jim Wilson
Jim Wilson, an extension educator with the University of Idaho Cooperative Extension Service in Kootenai County, was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding accomplishments in achievement, leadership and communication.
The award is given to members with at least seven years of service to extension 4-H/youth programming and is based on work with professional associates, professional improvement, professional accomplishments including improvements, innovations and educational programming and personal contributions within the community.
Sarah Katharine Walters and Kristin Orton have been selected as winners of the the Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Program.
Walters, a Bonners Ferry High School senior and daughter of David and Brenda Walters of Bonners Ferry, received first place.
She maintains a 4.0 grade-point average and has received numerous citizenship and academic awards, participates in student government, volleyball, basketball and golf and was selected as a Bonners Ferry Herald Athlete of the Week.
Walters is active in a church youth group and teaches Sunday school.
Orton, a Post Falls High School senior and daughter of Mathew and Robin Orton of Post Falls, received second place.
She maintains a 3.9 grade-point average and is a cheerleader, a member of National Honor Society, Key Club and Band.
The local first place winner is entered into state competition.
