Simms, Madden May Be Among First To Switch
The network courting of Phil Simms has begun.
Fox Sports boss David Hill said he is interested in the former Giants QB, who has been a member of NBC’s No. 1 NFL broadcast team for the last three seasons.
“We’ve had a number of conversations with Phil,” Hill said Wednesday. “Are there any other announcers out there that we are looking at? Yeah. Ed Goren (Fox Sports executive producer) and I have been talking constantly about the way we want to position our broadcast teams.”
Simms’ future network home may be tied to where the Big Domino, aka John Madden, falls.
Over the past few weeks, there has been much speculation that Madden would like to bolt Fox for ABC’s “Monday Night Football.” And Madden has done nothing to discourage the reports.
