Before the cutoff, nearly 600 readers took us up on our naive offer to extend birthday greetings to friends and family members born in January. Many passed along multiple names.

Thanks to all who called or wrote. We’re sorry we can’t acknowledge everyone celebrating a birthday. We would have to use up a dozen more columns just printing names.
