Fatal Car Accident Under Investigation

State Police continue to investigate the cause of an accident Thursday that killed a 60-year-old woman and sent two other victims to the hospital.

The two cars involved were traveling in opposite directions on U.S. Highway 95 at 4:23 p.m. when one of the cars - ISP is trying to determine which - crossed the center line and struck the other. ISP also is trying to determine whether road conditions or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Ruth E. Wells of Coeur d’Alene died when a Chrysler New Yorker driven by her husband, Darrol D. Wells, 67, collided with a Volvo driven by Van D. Conway, 59, of Coeur d’Alene.

Darrol Wells and Conway both were in stable condition at Kootenai Medical Center Friday afternoon. , DataTimes
