Odessa Uses A Big Finish To Win As Valley Christian Goes Cold

Expectations didn’t hold up for seventh-ranked Valley Christian, which went silent during the final quarter Saturday and dropped a 42-38 Bi-County League decision to visiting Odessa.
The Tigers (8-4, 6-2) hit 12 of 20 free throws, 10 of 14 in the fourth quarter, to rally past the Panthers (12-2, 7-1) and tie Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Wilbur-Creston for first place in the West Division.
Valley Christian, the home team, led 38-24 after three quarters, but Odessa outscored the Panthers 18-0 in the final eight minutes.
Odessa’s Michael Jeske had seven rebounds.
Jeremy Decker had eight with four steals for VC, which had its 10-game winning streak snapped. VC still leads Sprague-Harrington by 3 games in the East.

Brad Wiman continued his hot pace and the visiting Lancers (4-9, 3-5) held off a rally by the Warriors (7-6, 6-2) at Hartline.
Wiman has averaged 21 points for his last four games after averaging 4.3 for his first three. Brandon Leander scored 15 of his 27 in the third quarter and Craig Elder hit two 3-pointers in the fourth for ACH.
