Fernwood Logger Hit In Back By Tree Limb

A 24-year-old Fernwood man was listed in stable condition Friday after being injured during a logging accident.

Shoshone County sheriff’s deputies said Jason Mattson was hit in the back by a broken tree limb. Mattson was hooking trees on steep terrain along Bear Creek Road about five miles west of Calder when the accident occurred, deputies said.

Mattson was taken to Benewah Community Hospital and later transferred to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
