Dixie, Csi Drop In Men’s Rankings

From Staff And Wire Reports

Dixie and the College of Southern Idaho each dropped a spot in the latest NJCAA men’s basketball poll.

Dixie (19-2 overall, 7-2 Scenic West Athletic Conference) slipped to No. 5. CSI (19-2, 7-2) is No. 10. Salt Lake (17-4, 7-2), playing at NIC on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., received votes.

It’ll be a mini-tournament for women’s teams that received votes, but are not ranked, as NIC (14-3, 6-3) awaits 5:30 visits from Salt Lake (13-6, 6-3) Thursday and Utah Valley (15-6, 6-3) Saturday.

Meanwhile, Southern Idaho (16-4, 7-2) is ranked 15th and Ricks (18-2, 7-2) is No. 22.

Boosters dine

The Spokane Vandal basketball boosters meet today at noon at Finnerty’s Red Lion.

Capital falls from No. 1

Capital High School’s first losses of the season dropped the Eagles from atop the A-1 rankings, and the No. 1 teams among Idaho’s smallest schools were tied in the weekly Associated Press basketball poll.

The Pocatello Indians and cross-town rival Highland Rams took advantage of Capital’s stumbles and moved up one spot each to first and second among the biggest schools in a vote of the state’s sportswriters and broadcasters. Capital dropped to third and Coeur d’Alene and Lewiston entered the poll in the final two spots.

Hagerman moved up to a first-place tie with Troy in A-4.
