Former American Basketball League Most Valuable Player Nikki McCray was assigned to the expansion Washington Mystics of the Women’s National Basketball Association.

McCray, a 5-foot-11 forward who jumped from the rival ABL in September, was among four players assigned to WNBA expansion teams in Washington and Detroit.

McCray and Alessandra Santos de Oliveira, a 6-foot-5 center who played with the 1996 Brazilian Olympic team, were assigned to the Washington Mystics. Cindy Brown, an All-Star forward with the ABL’s Seattle Reign last season, and Razija Mujanovic, a member of Yugoslavia’s 1988 Olympic team, were assigned to the Detroit Shock.
