Almost Everyone Would Like To Be Surprised With Flowers

FOR THE RECORD (January 31, 1998): Photo credit wrong: Darron Cummings took the photo of the roses published in Friday’s IN Life section. The photo credit given was incorrect.

According to a survey conducted last August of a thousand adults, 88 percent of the women and 51 percent of the men would like to be surprised with Valentine’s Day flowers. From which celebrity would they like to receive these flowers? The women want Mel Gibson to send flowers, the men preferred Julia Roberts. (And a note for those sending flowers the women’s way, women prefer flowers in their favorite colors - 36 percent want red flowers, 37 percent prefer pink, yellow or peach, 23 percent like orange, purple or fuchsia. Forty seven percent of the men said they’re satisfied with red.)

Think spring cleaning

OK, it’s a little thing. But if the adage “life’s in the details” is true, then finding the right size of vacuum bag is, well, life.

Now there’s a toll-free number for finding out which bag to buy and ordering it. (This saves you the trouble of dragging your now-dirt-filled bag to the store to match it to the drawings on the packages.) Just call (888) ALL-BAGS with the model and brand of vacuum cleaner.
