Spotlight: Nature Hike

If you’re looking for an invigorating way to spend the Fourth, you’ll like the Colville National Forest’s weekly hike.

Saturday’s trek starts at 9 a.m. from the trailhead at Kettle Crest. The 7.5-mile round trip includes a visit to an old Forest Service lookout, and you’ll view the White Mountain area burned in a 1988 fire. The hike is listed as “fairly difficult,” and you should bring a lunch and water. The hike is free.

Kettle Crest is located off State Highway 20, 16 miles east of Republic atop Sherman Pass.
