Elementary School Fire Ruled Arson
A Fourth of July fire at Sultan Elementary School was arson, Police Chief Fred Walser says.
Saturday’s fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage, he said.
The Snohomish County fire marshal determined the fire was started outside the school in a stack of cardboard boxes holding materials from two classrooms, a storage area and a library undergoing remodeling, Walser said.
A 17-year-old boy seen hurrying from the scene was arrested for investigation of second-degree arson, he said. He was carrying a lighter, Walser said.
