Dollar Rises Against Yen, Mark

The dollar rose against the yen Wednesday as Japan’s prime minister disappointed traders by failing to deliver plans to implement permanent tax cuts.

The dollar also rose vs. the mark, helped by continued uncertainty about Russia’s economic future.

Investors could find no reason to hold onto yen as Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto failed to deliver the details they sought concerning a tax package seen as a major component of Japan’s recovery from recession.
