Head To Green Bluff For Cherry Fest

The annual Green Bluff Cherry Festival starts today with special events going on at several orchards in Green Bluff.

Participating orchards will have you-pick cherries and most will have a cherry pies and various jams and preserves available.

In addition, Walter’s Fruit Ranch will serve huckleberry pancakes until noon and other dishes in the afternoon. The ranch has a gift shop that features crafts, pottery, honey and more.

The Hidden Acres orchard also has its own craft and gift shop. Beck’s Harvest House and Orchard will serve up a country barbecue, cherry ice cream and other cherry desserts to the sound of live music.

Wellens’ Luscious Fruit and Antiques will offer hot dogs and hamburgers to those who visit their antique shop and craft booths. Thorson’s Country Farm will offer previously picked cherries in addition to U-pick cherries.

The events will continue Sunday and next weekend. In addition, the annual cherry pit spit and cherry pickers’ trot will be held on Thursday. The pit spit starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by a short tot trot for kids under the age of 5 at 6:15 p.m. The popular cherry pickers’ trot will begin at 7 p.m. Hamburgers will be served throughout the evening. No advance registration is necessary.

To reach the Green Bluff orchards, head north on the Newport Highway, take a right on Day-Mt. Spokane Road, go straight and follow the signs. All festival events are free.
