‘Bold’ Soap Picks Up Pair For Cast

Carol Bidwell Los Angeles Daily News

The long and the short of it is that “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the most-watched daytime drama around the world, has just added two Pauls to its cast: Agoura actor Paul Satterfield, a hunky Christopher Reeve look-alike, and Paul Williams, the Oscar-winning songwriter who makes his home above Sunset Boulevard.

It’s a visually unlikely on-screen pairing for the two, who play best friends and business partners on the CBS soap. Satterfield is 6-foot-4; Williams stands 5-foot-2.

“Because of the physical attributes we possess, we have to try not to play Mutt and Jeff, Abbott and Costello,” Satterfield said.

Williams’ appearance on the soap marks his first acting gig eight years into sobriety. During his recovery from a decade of alcohol and cocaine abuse, he abandoned acting and music to become a UCLA-certified drug and alcohol counselor.

The stint on “B&B” is a return to soaps for Satterfield, who previously appeared on daytime’s “General Hospital” and the nighttime serial “Savannah” and just finished playing the lead in an independent theatrical film, “Duty Dating,” set for release next spring.

Both actors have signed on with the show for two years.

Satterfield portrays Pierce Peterson, a multimillionaire motivational speaker who arrives to energize the other folks on “B&B.” Williams, as Bailey Masterson, plays the guru’s buddy, confidant and business manager, who is also a recovering alcoholic.
