Amazon.Com Likely To Report Loss
Shares of Amazon.com Inc. rose 9 percent Monday in anticipation of the online bookseller’s second-quarter earnings report, due out Wednesday.
BancAmerica Robertson Stephens & Co. analyst Keith Benjamin projects the Seattle-based company will report a loss of 38 cents a share on $103.3 million in revenue for the period. That compares with a loss of 14 cents a share on $27.9 million in revenue in the second quarter of last year, Dow Jones News Service reported.
Analysts surveyed by First Call Corp. had expected the bookseller to lose 44 cents a share in the second quarter, so Benjamin’s report prompted excitement.
