Filing For Office Begins Monday

Candidates for Congress, the state Legislature, many judicial posts and county executive positions can file for office from Monday morning to 5 p.m. Friday.

Those seeking offices for districts that are within the borders of a single county file at that county’s courthouse. Candidates for offices in districts that cross county lines file at the state Capitol in Olympia.

Candidates must either pay a filing fee equal to 1 percent of the office’s annual salary, or submit petitions with the signature of one registered voter for each dollar of the filing fee.
