Thome’S Blast Drops Mariners

Jim Thome’s eighth-inning home run, a solo shot, provided the winning run Wednesday as the Cleveland Indians defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-7 in Seattle.

After Cleveland built a 7-4 lead against Seattle starter Ken Cloude, the Mariners’ Jay Buhner tied the game with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

The final game of the three-game series takes place tonight.
