Top G-Prep Seniors Given Principals’ Awards
Thirteen Gonzaga Prep students have been named Washington Principals’ Scholars. The award, sponsored by Washington Association of secondary principals, is presented to seniors in the top 5 percentile of their class.
G-Prep students and their parents are:
Lisa Agostinelli, daughter of Robert and Nancy Agostinelli; David Cannon, son of John and Sharon Cannon; Melissa Carstens, daughter of P.J. and Bridget Carstens; Melissa Conrad, daughter of Charles and Denise Conrad; and Jeff Dixson, son of Michael and Pamela Dixson.
Megan Griffin, daughter of Kevin and Mona Griffin; Natilee Johnson, daughter of Melinda Johnson; Marisa Klein, daughter of Ronald and Emily Klein; Wendy Lin, daughter of Mike Lin; and Kelly Mangiaracina, daughter of Mark and Peggy Mangiaracina.
Amanda Spethman, daughter of Mary Hanify; Vanessa Waldref, daughter of George and Rita Waldref, and Marcie Willcox, daughter of Ralph and Katherine Willcox.
Michael Cox, Spokane, was selected as a student ambassador for Carroll College in Helena.
Student ambassadors represent the school to prospective students and their parents, provide campus tours and assist with special events.
Cox is a freshman majoring in biology and Spanish.
Matt Jenkins, a Gonzaga Prep student, was named a National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist.
He will now compete for one of 7,000 available merit scholarships.
His parents are Vern and Janet Jenkins of Spokane.
Daniel Williams, a Gonzaga Prep student, was named an honorable mention finalist in the National Hispanic Scholar Recognition Program sponsored by the College Board.
He is the son of Kevin and Imelda Williams.
Loren Erickson, a member of Boy Scout Troop 321, received the Eagle Scout Award, the highest award given by the Scouts.
His Eagle project was to organize the painting of fire hydrants along Grand Boulevard.
Erickson, a student at Ferris High School, is the son of Ron and Laurene Erickson.
Nina Roecks, Spokane, was awarded the Student Lincoln Academy Medallion, becoming the Student Laureate for Rockford College in Rockford, Ill.
She was chosen by chief executive officers for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities.
