Ready For Anything Graduating Class Looks Back On Formative School Years, Looks Ahead To An Exciting Future
Is there a more freeing — yet frightening — feeling than graduating from high school?
Combined with the very real sense of accomplishment and liberation is a sometimes-stronger sense of anticipation and dread. It’s a time when everyone is asking “What do you want to be when you grow up,” and expecting a more thoughtful reply than the childhood fantasies of cowboy or movie star.
For the most part, today’s kids have an answer. From college, to training programs to the military to religious missions, most graduates have staked out a purpose and a path to achieve it.
But right now, graduation looms as perhaps the biggest thing that’s happened in these young men and women’s lives. For that reason, it’s the biggest section of the North Side Voice this year. We’ve dedicated these pages to listing the 1,800-plus names of high school graduates from North Spokane County.
You’ll see profiles on the area’s valedictorians in addition to stories about what the graduates are planning for their lives and how they’ve already made a difference in their communities.
Also, with each school, you’ll find an essay written by a graduate about their class’s experiences. They ponder their 12 years in school and say it best: Look out world, here we come.
