Gm Strike Closes New Jersey Factory

From Staff

A New Jersey factory that makes General Motors Corp. sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks was idled Wednesday, bringing to seven the number of assembly plants affected by a strike at a Michigan parts plant.

In addition, a third parts plant had its first layoffs as a result of the strike at GM’s Flint Metal Center.

The latest plant closure, at Linden, N.J., affected 2,360 workers. Forty-five workers at a stamping plant at Marion, Ind., also were idled Wednesday.
