Lind Hosts Rodeo, Demolition Derby

A lot of towns in the region have annual rodeos, but few can boast of a yearly combine demolition derby.

Lind, Wash., will host its 11th annual derby Friday at the rodeo grounds as part of a three-day event. The combines will be decorated like floats, and the last one that limps from the arena will be declared the winner.

The combine derby will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday. A performance by the Rock’n B Cloggers, a group of local children who regularly win awards in dance competitions, will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s events begin at 9 a.m. and include a community garage sale, a kiddie parade on Main Street and a barbecue. The rodeo begins at 2.

A cowboy breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. Sunday. The rodeo finals begin at 2 p.m., followed by a performance by the Wagonettes, a drill team on horseback.

The derby and rodeo are $6 per person. The barbecue is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The cowboy breakfast is $3.
