Lavon Gilliland Chattaroy
Visitation for Lavon Rose Gilliland, 59, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chattaroy Community Church.
Mrs. Gilliland, who was born in Stanwood, Wash., died Tuesday.
She retired in 1996 after 32 years with Safeway.
Mrs. Gilliland was a member of the United Motorcycle International Club and a resident of Spokane County for 25 years.
Her first husband, James Thornton, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; three daughters, Joyce Kruger of Deer Park, and Jayne Edens and Janice Dunn, both of Chattaroy; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Tackett of Spokane and Sharon Culbert of Spangle; two stepsons, Bobby Gilliland of Spokane and Daniel Thornton of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; two sisters, Audrey Broxson of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Verna Whitlinger of Marysville, Wash.; a brother, Jim Dallman of Snohomish, Wash.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Herbert Lasater Davenport, Wash.
Funeral for Herbert M. Lasater is planned for 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home North. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Lasater, who was born in Piedmont, Kan., died Monday. He was 90.
He graduated in 1925 from Winnett (Mont.) High School and in 1939 from Montana State College with an agricultural science degree.
In 1929 he married Ann Landsiedel in Missoula.
Mr. Lasater taught math and agriculture from 1939 to 1943 in Montana and then went to work for 10 years with the government as an Indian Affairs agent in Inchelium and Wellpinit, Wash.
He worked for more than 16 years with the Biles-Colman Mill in Omak, Wash., and retired in 1973.
Mr. Lasater moved to Spokane after his retirement in 1973 and to Davenport two years ago.
His wife died in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Frazier of Harrington, Wash., and Olivia Jeffries of Asotin, Wash.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jean Mathews Davenport, Wash.
Private graveside service for Jean L. Mathews, 52, will be Saturday at the Egypt (Wash.) Cemetery. Memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Egypt. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mathews, who was born in Yakima, died Wednesday She graduated from Shadle Park High School and Eastern Washington University.
Mrs. Mathews most recently worked as a project coordinator for People to People.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas; a son, Russell Berg of Spokane; a daughter, Tandy Hoffman of Wenatchee; three stepsons, Robert Mathews of San Diego, and Kirk and Jeffery Mathews, both of Seattle; a stepdaughter, Kimberlee Long of Skagway, Alaska; a brother, Duane Dubois of Spokane; and four grandchildren.
Athela ‘Sis’ Major Chewelah, Wash.
Memorial service for Athela “Sis” Major, 86, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Rosary Church in Chewelah. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Major, who was born in Cedonia, Wash., died Saturday.
She lived in Spokane for many years before moving to Chewelah in the early 1950s.
In Chewelah she owned and operated a restaurant.
Survivors include a sister, Thorma Major; and a brother, John Major, both of Chewelah.
Daniel Kembel Ritzville, Wash.
Visitation for Daniel M. Kembel, 93, will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Vault burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Kembel, a lifetime Ritzville resident, died Wednesday.
He worked as a farmer and was the past director and president of the Ritzville Warehouse Co.
Mr. Kembel was a member of Philadelphia Congregational Church, the Marcellus Grange and the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.
Survivors include his wife, Violet; a son, Dennis Kembel, and a brother, Walter Kembel, both of Ritzville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Emily Henry Spokane
Memorial service for Emily Henry, 76, will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Henry, who was born in Glendive, Mont., died Wednesday.
She was a civilian employee of the Navy during World War II and worked as an aircraft electrician.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Congregational Church in Moses Lake and was a resident of Spokane for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, James Henry, Norman Davidson and Virgil Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Brown of Spokane and James Davidson of Grandview, Wash.; four stepchildren, Vickie Vaughn of Spokane, Roseann Ridgley of Oregon, Jimmy Henry of Lacey, Wash., and Timothy Henry of Moses Lake; and 13 grandchildren.
Gladys (Litzenberger) Mosley Spokane
Memorial service for Gladys (Litzenberger) Mosley, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mosley, who died Tuesday, was born in Endicott, Wash.
She lived at Cave Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene for 20 years before moving to Spokane. Mrs. Mosley worked as an eye technician.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis; two daughters, Cindy Fitzpatrick of Nine Mile Falls and Cherie Rosen of Mill Creek, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Kirsti Brandt of Puyallup, Wash.; a stepson, Paul Mosley of Long Beach, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Lucille Wilbur Spokane
Memorial service for Lucille Wilbur, 88, will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Congregational Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wilbur, who was born in Denver, died Saturday.
She graduated in 1927 from Newport (Wash.) High School and in 1958 received a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Washington University.
In 1935 she married George Wilbur.
Mrs. Wilbur taught school at Chattaroy and Evergreen elementary schools in the Mead School District before retiring in 1972.
She received a national leadership award from Camp Fire for her work as a leader and trainer and was also active as a Cub Scout leader and PTA officer. Mrs. Wilbur was a supporter of Spokane’s All-City Orchestra and Band and the Silver Spurs. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Her husband died in 1994.
Mrs. Wilbur’s survivors include two daughters, Aubrey Elliott of Spokane and Gail Monohon of Avenal, Calif.; a son, Lee Wilbur of Allendale, Mich.; two sisters, Geraldine Ellis of Renton, Wash., and Leonora Marshall of Elk; a brother, Ronald Miller of Olympia; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Manila McGilchrist Spokane
Memorial service for Manila J. McGilchrist, 95, was Thursday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South.
Mrs. McGilchrist, who had been a resident of Spokane for more than 80 years, died Monday. She was born in Tygh Valley, Ore.
She worked for a time as a dental assistant but was primarily a homemaker.
Her husband, Nicol McGilchrist, died in 1976.
Survivors include a son, William McGilchrist of Northfield, Ill.; and a sister, Vera Banta of Spokane.
Mildred Disney Tacoma
Funeral for Mildred Louise Disney, 84, will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Tacoma. Inurnment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane at a later date.
Mrs. Disney, who was born in Russell, Idaho, died Sunday.
She graduated from Buckley (Wash.) High School, and in 1932 she married Otis Disney in Enumclaw, Wash.
They moved to Twin Lakes, Idaho, where they built a resort and lived until the beginning of World War II, when they moved back to Western Washington.
In 1944 they moved to Spokane, and Mrs. Disney held various jobs in the area, working mostly as a sous chef and baker. Mrs. Disney also owned her own stamp machine business at one time.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was past matron of Audubon Chapter 214.
Mrs. Disney was a resident of Spokane for 50 years before moving to Tacoma three years ago.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Jacklyn Taigen of Spokane; a son, Richard Disney of Tacoma; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Virginia Spear Spokane
Memorial service for Virginia Spear, 78, will be August 22 at the home of Jill Dutt in Spokane.
Mrs. Spear, who was born in Polson, Mont., died Saturday in Salem, Ore., where she resided for the past three weeks.
In 1942 she married Grant Spear, and they managed the Belton Chalets in West Glacier, Mont., for several years.
She then worked as a telephone operator and homemaker and for The Crescent department store until her retirement.
Mrs. Spear was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Business Women’s Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally Spear Bauer of Leavenworth, Wash., and Sue Marchioro of Salem, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
