New faces:
Albert J. England has joined Ross Printing Co. as chief financial officer. England previously held management positions with several Portland and Seattle printing firms, and was director of financial services for Pacific Printing & Imaging Association, a trade association for printers covering six Western states. He has completed the Printing Industry of America’s executive development program.
Wells Fargo Bank has appointed Richard “Dick” Kunze as vice president and private banking officer in its Private Client Services Department for Eastern Washington and Idaho. Kunze, who is based in Spokane, has more than 37 years of professional banking experience. He began his career as a teller with U.S. National Bank of Omaha and has held positions at Washington Trust Bank and at U.S. Bank.
Robert Schmidt has joined ALSC Architects P.S. as an intern architect. He received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Idaho in 1993 and has four years of experience, including medical, educational and commercial projects. Schmidt is currently working on producing contract documents for the new Quincy Elementary School in Quincy, Wash.
PSI, an engineering testing and consulting firm, has appointed Michele St. Germaine as branch manager of its Spokane office. Her responsibilities include senior project management and technical oversight of construction inspection and laboratory testing, including environmental and geotechnical projects. St. Germaine, who received an engineering degree from Arizona State University, previously worked as a staff engineer for Ricker, Atkinson, McBee & Associates.
Ralph Morgan has been named general manager of the Quality Inn Oakwood. Morgan previously was general manager of the Spokane Hampton Inn for five years. Both hotels are owned by Douglass Vandervert Developments.
Nicole Burnette has been hired as sales manager of the Quality Inn Oakwood. Burnette, who received a degree in communications from Eastern Washington University, will manage conference, meeting room and local advertising sales for the hotel.
The Spokane General Office of New York Life has appointed Cheryl Schaefer-Lewis and Selena Rushton as associates. Schaefer-Lewis will focus on personal planning, while Rushton will specialize in personal and small-business planning.
Spokane Electrical Services Co. has hired Colin Thompson, formerly a business broker with Zirkle & Co., to manage SESCO’s business acquisitions. Thompson, a 1993 graduate of Gonzaga University’s School of Business, is a CPA with experience in business valuations and deal structure.
Wink Jorgens has joined the data and communications cabling design department of PowerCom, the telecommunications division of Spokane Electrical Services Co. Jorgens, who is a 20-year veteran of the industry, previously worked for Teknon Corp.
John J. Preston has been appointed area vice president for the American Cancer Society’s Western Pacific Division. He will oversee four offices in Eastern Washington and help implement the organization’s research, education, advocacy and patient services programs. He was director of athletic development and assistant athletic director at Gonzaga University for 16 years before joining the cancer society.
Mike Hogan has been hired as director of athletic development for the Gonzaga University Bulldogs. Hogan has been director of marketing, promotions and events at the University of Idaho since 1995. During the 1994-95 academic year, he was the coordinator of marketing and promotions at Weber State University.
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane has named two new board members. Mary Ziegler, owner of Ziegler Lumber Co., and Dr. Brent Stapleton, a family practice physician, will help the nonprofit group provide affordable housing to those in need.

Tom McLaughlin, who was previously with Homestead Properties, has several years of experience in residential and commercial real estate. He will continue to focus on these areas.
Chuck Fuller, formerly with Century 21 Premier Service, has many years of experience in residential, residential acreage and land sales.
Rosemary Barber, previously with Roecks and Roecks, will work in the residential market and specialize as a buyer’s agent.

Rebecca Bailey has been given responsibility for marketing and public relations for Vandervert Developments LLC’s Hotel Division after completing an internship. She graduated from Eastern Washington University this month with a degree in public relations.

Total Consultants of Spokane has changed its name to Cortner Architectural Co. and relocated its office to 1903 W. Third. Raymond F. Cortner, who joined what was then known as Jack Sackville-West Architects P.S., in 1972, said the name was changed to better reflect the firm’s primary focus. Cortner is now the firm’s sole owner and principal.

Joan Petow, a registered nurse, has been recertified as an orthopedic nurse by the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board.
Dr. Gerald Phipps has been certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Certification, which is voluntary, requires an extensive review of the orthodontist’s basic education and clinical expertise. Only 1,926 orthodontists worldwide are diplomates. Phipps received his dental degree and specialty education in orthodontics and dental facial orthopedics from Washington University in St. Louis.
