River Ridge Exhibit At Corbin Center
A juried exhibit of works by members of the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts opens today at the Corbin Art Center.
The group’s mission “is to further the love of art and painting,” said Lynn Mandyke, Corbin’s director. “The association, made up of local artists, strives to help their members become better painters.”
Don Nepean, a longtime Spokane artist, will judge the pieces, which include watercolors, oils, pastels and other mediums.
Nepean, formerly a commercial artist, was dean of the Spokane Falls Community College Art Department. After suffering a stroke in 1992, he taught himself to paint again.
A reception for the artists will be from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight at the center, 507 W. Seventh.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and whenever the center is open for classes. The free exhibit runs through July 16.
