Ching, Cosner Pace Shadow To A 4-1 Win
Brian Ching and Alika Cosner both had one goal and one assist as the Spokane Shadow handed the Okanagan Challenge a 4-1 loss Friday night at Kelowna, British Columbia.
After the Shadow missed three goal opportunities, Ching put Spokane on the board at the 33-minute mark when Mike Thompson centered the ball to Ching from the right wing from 18 yards out. It was Ching’s team-leading ninth goal of the season as the Shadow improved to 5-1 in USISL Premier League Northwest Division soccer games, 6-3 overall.
At 49:00, Jeff McAllister scored on a header after Cosner’s shot hit the crossbar and bounced to McAllister. Two minutes later the Shadow clinched the win when Cosner scored with Thompson assisting.
After Okanagan scored, Spokane regained a three-goal lead at 69:00 as Ching found Chris LaRochelle.
Kelowna, a NW Division first-year provisional team, dropped to 0-3 in division and overall games. One of the losses came against Spokane 7-0.
