Good Samaritan Adds Cottage Homes

Good Samaritan Village in Greenacres is adding to its 200-acre retirement campus.

This summer, work will begin on Good Sam’s “cottage homes” - 28 duplexes designed for maintenance-free living.

The $3.5 million first phase of the project is located on 19 acres that overlook Shelley Lake.

Good Samaritan plans to pre-sell the duplexes, which range in price from $136,000 to $145,000. Three different floor plans will be offered.

“We’re adding to our retirement community,” said Jim Droppers, Good Samaritan administrator.

Good Samaritan has operated at Tschirely and Eighth Avenue for 40 years. It now has 86 apartments, 15 assisted living units and 163 beds in its skilled nursing center.

Comfort Inn expands

The 35-room Comfort Inn hotel at 6309 E. Broadway is expanding.

Spokane’s Hospitality Associates Inc., operator and part owner of the hotel, will tear down the old 34-room Broadway Motel east of the Comfort Inn.

The $850,000 to $1 million project will almost double the number of rooms at the Comfort Inn, bringing the total amount to 71. The main floor will also be remodeled.

Work is expected to begin in about a month.

G.I. Trucking moves to Valley

G.I. Trucking Co. is moving its Spokane operations from Airway Heights to the Spokane Valley the first of August.

All seven employees will move to an 8,000-square-foot warehouse in the Spokane Industrial Park, said Jim Lashbrook, terminal manager.

The company does long-distance freight hauling.
