Gun Programs Boosted

The National Rifle Association has distributed $97,000 this year to shooter education and conservation programs in Washington state.
The funds are gathered through Friends of the NRA fund-raising banquets, which have been held around the country since 1994, said Tom Higgins, hunter education coordinator for the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council in Spokane.
Recently in Spokane, NRA regional representative Mike Krei presented a $3,000 check to Higgins to buy clay target throwers, radios and other equipment for the club’s hunter education program.
Krei also presented a total of $6,000 to help purchase equipment for Boy Scout marksmanship programs at Camp Cowles and Camp Grizzly, Higgins said.
