Convicted Felon Faces New Charges

From Staff

A convicted felon was caught early Friday after attempting to elude authorities, Spokane police said.

Daniel Joseph Froehlich of Spokane has 18 convictions for robbery, drugs and other crimes.

He may face more after police said he was observed driving recklessly in the lower South Hill area and tried to escape.

After being pursued by police at around 1 a.m., Froehlich, 29, tried to hide his car behind a house near Cook Street and First Avenue, police said. When officers found him returning to the car, they also discovered a loaded handgun, a large knife and a box of bullets in his car.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, attempting to elude and driving with a suspended license.
