NEW FACES:
Duvoisin & Associates LLC, which provides business services for physicians, has moved into expanded quarters at 501 N. Riverpoint and added the following people to its accounting staff:
Lisa Orlando, previously a senior associate at Coopers and Lybrand, was named an assistant controller. Orlando, who is a certified public accountant, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Washington State University.
Donna Tissue, previously an accountant for Spokane Diagnostic Radiology, was hired an an accountant. Tissue has a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University.
Jennifer Johnson, who received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University, was named payroll administrator. She is responsible for payroll and benefits.
Gena Massey, previously an accountant with Fruci & Associates, was hired as a primary care accountant. Massey has a degree in accounting from City University.
Catherine Bowden was named purchasing manager. Bowden, who has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, previously was the controller at Radiology Associates of Spokane.
Susan Keyes has been chosen as coordinator of the new Parish Nursing Program for the Spokane area. Keyes, who has more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice, nursing education, community nursing and administration, will organize the program, which helps recruit and train volunteer nurses for all faiths. The job is funded by Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital and is administered through the Spokane Visiting Nurse Association.
Virginia Luna has joined Tomlinson Black-Valley as a sales associate. Luna recently completed 25 years as a respiratory therapist at Sacred Heart Medical Center and will retire from that job this summer.
John Stout, former executive director of the Fox Cities Children’s Museum in Appleton, Wis., has been named executive director of the new Children’s Museum of Spokane. Stout, who has more than a decade of experience in the field of youth museums, was also the education and programming director for the Minnesota Children’s Museum in St. Paul. He received a master’s degree from the University of California at Davis and a law degree from the WM. Mitchell College of Law.
MOVING UP:
Allyn Fosse has been named vice president of marketing at Columbia Lighting. Fosse, a former national sales manager for USI Lighting, will oversee the formulation, implementation and overall management of the strategic marketing plan. Most recently, he was the vice president of sales with Peerless Lighting. He earned an MBA in marketing from Washington State University.
Washington Trust Bank has promoted the following employees:
Janice Dalziel was named vice president. A trust officer in the Private Banking Group, Dalziel joined Washington Trust Bank in 1991 and has more than 25 years of banking and trust experience.
Chad LeGate was promoted to assistant vice president. LeGate, who joined Washington Trust in 1993, is a trust officer in the Private Banking Group.
Charles Wood was promoted to assistant vice president. Wood is the loan review manager in Credit Administration. He has worked for the bank since 1994 and has more than 28 years of banking experience.
Paul Carmichael, director of materials management at Holy Family Hospital since 1994, has been named director of purchasing for both Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family. At Sacred Heart, Carmichael succeeds Tony Schmidt, who retired this spring after 33 years. Carmichael was previously a senior buyer at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.
STARTING UP:
Spokane-based Quarry Tile Co. has opened a new ceramic tile manufacturing plant across from Felts Field. The new facility replaces a plant at Spokane Industrial Park, where the company had operated since it was formed in 1965. The company plans to expand its product lines with the increased capacity now available. Quarry Tile has been owned since 1978 by Richard and Lynn Baiter.
TRANSACTIONS:
Padgett Business Services, an international provider of financial reporting services to independent business owners, has formed an alliance with The Expert Marketplace, an Internet-based resource to the technical and consulting service industry. Under the deal, Padgett will serve as the recommended service provider to Expert Marketplace’s Premier ExperNet Group, an affiliated network of pre-qualified independent consulting firms located throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Bradley Flack, a registered representative in Spokane, has affiliated with Walnut Street Securities Inc., the St. Louis-based financial services firm serving 2,000 registered representatives across the country. The new affiliation enables Flack to provide a range of investment services, including stocks and bonds, mutual funds and cash management services.
Adecco Employment Services has reopened its Spokane TAD staffing branch under the name Adecco. The conversion to Adecco systems, procedures and brand name follow the October 1997 acquisition of TAD Resources International by Adecco. Adecco Employment Services is located at 524 N. Mullan, Suite 23.

1998-99 officers of the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane are: Mary Anne Brown, president; Audrey Bunn, first vice president; Norma Kienny, second vice president; Pat Sweeney, treasurer; and Marie Mann, secretary. Larry Littman was chosen “Person of the Year.”
KUDOS:
The Washington State Dietetic Association has named Michelle Hagan as its Young Dietitian of the Year. Hagan, who is currently the president of the Greater Spokane Dietetic Association, works as a nutritionist for the Spokane Regional Health District.
Elaine Reid, food and nutrition director at Sacred Heart Medical Center, has been named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Washington State Dietetic Association. The award is given for notable leadership, ability and service. Reid, who has 19 years of experience, has held roles in administrative, clinical and community nutrition, as well as handling public relations and legislative activities.
Pilot Air Freight awarded its 1997 Platinum Award for highest inbound logistics service revenue to its Spokane operation. Bill Fitzgerald received Pilot’s PGA Award, which recognizes sales account executives or managers who achieve sales excellence.
News4 photojournalist Rick Suhr was named 1997 National Press Photographers Association Regional Photographer of the Year for the region which covers the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Only one other photographer from east of the Cascades has won the award.
Constance H. Kravas was named one of two recipients in the “Lifetime Achievement” category of the 1998 Laureate Awards honoring significant accomplishments of men and women engaged in philanthropic fund-raising nationwide. Kravas is vice president of university advancement and president of the Washington State University Foundation in Pullman.
Special agent Kent Lupton won Northwestern Mutual Life’s 1997 Agent of the Year honors for the Inland Northwest Hubbell Agency. Lupton, whose career production includes more than 6,000 life cases, was among the leaders for life insurance policy sales in Northwestern Mutual’s Western region.

Kootenai Electric Cooperative has received the national “Community Service Award” from the Community Service Network of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. The co-op was honored for its efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
Valerie Tucker was named Woman of the Year by the Spokane Falls Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association for outstanding contributions to the association.

Dr. Michael Baker, of Chiropractic Plus in Spokane, has been accepted into the United States Powerlifting Federation’s Sports Medicine Committee/Society’s “Provisional” list of members. Dr. Baker has been in practice for the last 15 years in the Spokane Valley and is a certified chiropractic sports physician.
Carl Thiringer, Glenne Smith and Everett Noble were nominated for Custodian of the Year through Building Service Contractors Association International. They received a certificate award and a $100 bonus for winning honorable mention.
