Ed Charland Sandpoint

Private service for Ed Charland, 62, will be at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Charland, who died Friday, was born in Sandpoint.

He grew up and attended school in Sandpoint and then moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he worked as a commercial fisherman and prison guard.

Mr. Charland returned to Sandpoint in 1987 and worked for the Bonner County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol Division.

He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Alaska.

Survivors include his wife, Christina; five daughters, Gerri Bade of Tacoma, Helen Ingram of California, and Kimberly Perez, Gina Cook and Bernadette Charland, all of Sandpoint; two sons, Michael and Dan Charland, both of Oregon; his mother, Norma Charland of Sandpoint; a sister, Deanna Alley of Bremerton; 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Daniel Wahl

Spokane Funeral for Daniel L. Wahl, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South.

Mr. Wahl, who was born in Kelso, Wash., died Tuesday.

He moved to Spokane as a child and later worked for several years at Sacred Heart Medical Center. The last 11 years he has worked in the laundry department.

Survivors include four daughters, Aimee, Tamara, Kassandra and Miranda Wahl, all of Spokane; a son, Benjamin of Arkansas; his parents, Leo and Shirley Wahl of Colville, Wash.; two brothers, Calvin and William Wahl, both of Spokane; and a sister, Katherine Wahl of California.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.

Miriam (Killian) Mast Spokane

No service will be held for Miriam K. (Killian) Mast, 92, at her request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mast, who died Wednesday, was born in Aurora, Ill.

She graduated in 1924 from Wenatchee High School and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Mast was a member of the Eastern Star Chapters of Colfax and Moses Lake, where she lived before moving to Spokane.

Survivors include a daughter, Darralyn Bowen of Spokane; two brothers, Curtis Killian of Chelan, Wash., and Joseph Killian of Novata, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Genevieve ‘Genny’ Veltrie Spokane

Funeral Mass for Genevieve Marie “Genny” Veltrie, 74, is planned for 10 a.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Veltrie, who was born in Priest River, Idaho, died Wednesday.

She worked as a florist and was a 60-year Spokane resident.

Survivors include her husband, Lee; a son, Larry of Sherwood, Ore.; three daughters, LeeAnn, Lynn and Lynda, all of Spokane; a sister, Grace of Newport, Wash.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arlo Tubbs Hayden, Idaho

Private family service for Arlo Dean Tubbs, 69, will be held at a later date. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tubbs, who was born in Minnesota, died Thursday.

He grew up and lived in Minnesota before moving to Hayden in 1984.

Mr. Tubbs was a member of the Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; a son, Terry Tubbs of Minnesota; two daughters, Rhonda Tubbs of Minnesota and Rocky Winters of Oregon; two sisters, Ona Hanson and Sandra Wright, both of Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Flora Hopkins Post Falls

Viewing for Flora C. Hopkins, 87, will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene in Post Falls.

Mrs. Hopkins, who was born in South Dakota, died Thursday.

She was a homemaker and a longtime Post Falls resident.

Mrs. Hopkins was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Post Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale.

Survivors include a son, Leland Hopkins of Post Falls; three daughters, Deloris Holmes of Newman Lake, Leana Page of Lacey, Wash., and Barbara Hopkins of Spokane; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Robert Duncan Spokane

Visitation for Robert F. Duncan, 78, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Duncan, a 49-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.

He was born and raised in Winona, Kan., and in 1942 married Winona Craig in Goodland, Kan.

They moved to Spokane in 1949 from Louisiana and he worked for Stanlin Oil on the Gulf Coast in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana where he was crew chief which surveyed the sites for gas and oil wells.

Mr. Duncan worked for Kaiser Trentwood for 31 years before retiring in 1981 as a millwright.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Winona; three sons, Franklin Duncan of Spokane, Robbin Duncan of Benton City, Wash., and Bruce Duncan of Newman Lake; a daughter, Sherrie Potter of Spokane; a brother, Tom Duncan of Spokane; and 11 grandchildren.
