Little Caesars Shops Get Name Change

From Staff

Little Caesars declined to comment Monday on a Spokane franchise owner’s decision to break ranks with the national chain and reopen his pizzerias as Roxy’s Pizza.

“Since this is a pending business matter, we believe it is inappropriate to discuss any details,” communications director Sue Sherbow said in a prepared statement. “Spokane is a great market for Little Caesars and we intend to continue to develop restaurants there.”

Jeff Welsh, who owns 10 pizzerias in Spokane, took down the Little Caesars signs June 22 and reopened as Roxy’s Pizza the following day.

Welsh said he was frustrated with the Detroit-based corporation’s ineffective advertising and restrictive requirements.

However, because some of the restaurants are still bound by a franchise agreement, Welsh said, legal action may be pending.
