Kudos
ZONTA, a women’s service organization, is disbanding after six decades serving the Spokane community through service projects, scholarship programs and civic events.
Declining membership is the cause of closure.
As a farewell gesture, the group has donated the balance in its treasury to Life Skills/Women’s Programs, affiliated with the Community Colleges of Spokane’s Institute for Extended Learning.
The funds will be used to purchase books and bookcases for a women’s library.
ZONTA has also donated several of its scrapbooks to the Cheney Cowles Museum. The books represent a slice of local history featuring ZONTA events from the 1930s to the present.
