Blaze Destroys Barn, Several Nearby Cars

From Staff Reports

Fire destroyed a barn and several cars at a residence on Camden Road in southern Pend Oreille County on Sunday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived around 1 p.m., a two-story 70-by-30-foot barn that held a workshop and chicken coop was beyond saving, said Dave Phillips, deputy chief for Spokane Fire District 4.

“Initially, we worked on protecting a house and another barn,” Phillips said. “There were no injuries, although (the owners) did lose about 10 or 12 chickens.”

Also lost were several cars parked near the barn and one parked inside, Phillips said.

Cause of the fire is under investigation, though it may have been electrical in nature. , DataTimes
