Off-Road Bill Goes Nowhere

From Staff And Wire Reports

Rep. Jeff Alltus, R-Hayden, failed to persuade lawmakers to introduce a bill Tuesday that would have given county law officers more authority over off-road vehicle drivers.

The House State Affairs Committee refused to debate the measure, which would have allowed the sheriff’s department to cite operators of motorbikes, four-wheelers and other non-licensed vehicles.

The bill would have also allowed for the citation of drunken drivers, required blood testing of people killed in off-road vehicle accidents and required people to report accidents where there was an injury or more than $750 worth of damage to the vehicle.
