House Passes High School Bill

From Staff And Wire Reports

The House unanimously passed a bill Wednesday that smooths the laws allowing high school students to take college-credit courses.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum, clarifies a law passed last session. The new version would ensure that school districts maintain their funding level for juniors and seniors who leave campus to attend college classes. Students also could receive at least two high school semester credits for the courses.

The measure would exempt college and university faculty from the need for a secondary teaching certificate and submitting to background checks.
