Hints From Heloise
Dear Readers: To help keep drains fresh-smelling and flowing, here’s one of my all-time favorite hints.
Pour 1 cup baking soda into the drain and add 1 to 2 cups vinegar. Watch it bubble and fizz. Then turn the hot water on and let it run for several minutes to completely flush the drain. CAUTION: This is preventive, not curative. Don’t use this on a clogged drain.
This and other great, low-cost cleaning concoctions are in my vinegar and baking soda pamphlets.
If you’d like both, please send $4, along with a self-addressed, stamped (78 cents), long envelope to: Heloise/V&B, P.O. Box 795001, San Antonio TX 78279-5001. - Heloise
