Primestar 500 Postponed
Has NASCAR slowed its powerful Winston Cup cars enough at Atlanta Motor Speedway?
That’s a bone of contention as the sanctioning body gets ready to run the rain-delayed Primestar 500 today at the 1.54-mile oval.
Rain postponed Sunday’s 500-mile event.
Meanwhile, the debate raged over the speeds on the track that became considerably faster after being reconfigured last year between the March and November races from a continuous radius oval to a slightly longer quad oval.
On Friday, before rain washed out all the scheduled activities, three drivers, Steve Park, Bob Kelly and Mark Thompson, were injured in separate crashes.
