Russian Team Picked

Yevegeny Kafelnikov, the world’s fourth-ranked player, will head the Russian Davis Cup team that plays the United States at Stone Mountain, Ga., April 3-5.

Kafelnikov will be joined by Alexander Volkov, Andrei Olhovsky and Marat Safin for the first-round matches, the United States Tennis Association said in a statement.

The U.S. team will be headed by Andre Agassi, who has won 15 straight Davis Cup matches.

Pete Sampras, the world’s top-ranked player, has said he will not play unless the U.S. reaches the final two rounds.
