Man Arrested For Pulling Gun On I-90
A man was jailed Friday on suspicion of pointing a gun at another driver on Interstate 90, Washington State Patrol troopers said.
Richard P. Renford, 50, of Tekoa, Wash., remained in Spokane County Jail late Friday on a charge of intimidation with a weapon.
He was arrested after a motorist flagged down troopers Jim Hill and George Stanton about 12:55 p.m. on Interstate 90 west of the Pines Road interchange.
The motorist told troopers that another driver had cut him off on the Pines on-ramp. The victim said he had made an obscene gesture to the driver, who then pulled a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun out and pointed it at the victim.
The victim pointed the armed driver out to troopers. When Renford was arrested, he had a loaded gun in a shoulder holster, troopers said.
Troopers said that increasing incidents of “road rage” have become intolerable.
“We’re going to start gearing up even more,” said Sgt. Chris Powell. “This will not be tolerated any longer.”
